Creativity and Innovation

okay so lets just get to the point and stop wasting time.

Creativity refers to the phenomenon whereby a person creates something new                (a product, a solution, a work of art etc.) that has some kind of value. What counts as “new” may be in reference to the individual creator, or to the society or domain within which the novelty occurs. What counts as “valuable” is similarly defined in a variety of ways.

that was quoted from wikipedia of course.

Creativity for me is think different, see what others don’t see. As simple as that.

MEANWHILE ………

Innovation comes from the Latin innovationem, noun of action from innovare. The Etymology Dictionary further explains innovare as dating back to 1540 and stemming from the Latin innovatus, pp. of innovare “to renew or change,” from in- “into” + novus “new”.

Innovation can therefore be seen as the process that renews something that exists and not, as is commonly assumed, the introduction of something new. Furthermore this makes clear innovation is not an economic term by origin, but dates back to the Middle Ages at least. Possibly even earlier.

The central meaning of innovation thus relates to renewal. For this renewal to take place it is necessary for people to change the way they make decisions, they must choose to do things differently, make choices outside of their norm. Schumpeter c.s. (~1930) seems to have stated that innovation changes the values onto which the system is based. So when people change their value (system) the old (economic) system will tumble over to make room for the new one. When that happens innovation has occurred. So innovation must be seen as something that does not something that is.

and that was also quoted from wikipedia of course.

Innovation is when you came up with something interesting and fresh but not only by creating new stuff but with some kind of modifying existed products also. That’s what I’m saying about innovation.

Lets talk about their differences…………..

  • Creativity is some kind of thinking up new things while innovation is doing new things
  • Creativity = Invention, Innovation = Improvements
  • Innovation depends on creativity while Creativity does not depends on innovation

i think that’s enough for the differences, now I’m going to talk about their similarity…………..

  • they both need to be different from any existing products / stuff
  • they both resulting something new and fresh
  • they can’t be separated

alright, i think that will be enough..

Meaning of a name

Posted in Tugas CI on January 25, 2011 by chandra

The first task given in Creativity and Innovation class was interpreting my own name.

First of all, i should introduce myself, well my name is Chandra Putra Darwinsyah, born in Jakarta at May 28th, 1989.

The name of Chandra itself taken from Sanscrit language has a meaning of special, privileged, superior, famous.

While Putra Darwinsyah means that i’m the legitimate son of Mr. Darwin

So, i think my parents give me that name with the intention of I will become a superior, special, privileged, famous person when I grow up.

In some articles i read that Chandra also a name of a moon, but i am not really sure of it, so i think i will go with the first one.

I’m pretty sure i will be able to be a man like my parents wanted to. It might not gonna be easy but hey, nothing is impossible in this universe..

Thanks.
